Dear Sirs
From viewing your carefully researched information on Antonio Villaraigosa, I can only conclude that there is no doubt that he is a Mexican nationalist with the ultimate goal of annexing California back to Mexico (the dream of Aztlan).
Thank god for Americans such as yourself Hal, that, hopefully, he will not be able to achieve his goals. Because if he did achieve his goals:
Instead of being the eighth largest economy in the world, California would be a backwater state, like many of Mexico's states. Mordidas (bribes) and corruption would be on a vast scale, with the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer, just as in Mexico. Health care and education would be second rate...although education may already be second rate in California.
The rest of the United States would probably end up lending Mexico money to bail out a depressed California, since it didn't know what to do with it after it got it back.
The folks who illegally migrated to California would have to give up their freebies...welfare benefits, free Health care, free obstetrics, you name it, since those things aren't available for free in Mexico. They would no longer get benefits unavailable to legal citizens of the State. They would probably petition the rest of the USA to keep the freebies going...and, judging from the political climate these days, taxpayers of the USA would probably subsidize foreign citizens.
Los Angeles would become a giant Tijuana (Van Nuys is close).
